As Senior Restorer and Head of Workshop at Rare Violins of New York, his talent for deriving the upmost in playability and tonal performance from all instruments of the violin family has made his services in setup and tonal adjustment especially sought after by players of distinction.

He is a specialist in the field of varnish restoration and the application of spirit-based varnishes as conservatively needed for aesthetics and material protection of fine instruments, and frequently acts as consultant to both members of the restoration community and musicians alike.

A skilled woodworker, Michael has spent tens of thousands of hours at the workbench acquiring an exceptional level of knowledge and craftsmanship that guides his work, be it new making or restoration.
